The Cumberland County 4-H Livestock Judging team traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to participate in the Arizona National Livestock Judging contest. Cumberland County was the high ranking team among 90 contestants and 28 teams from several states including Oklahoma, Texas, California and Montana. Individual honors went to Taylor Graham, high individual in beef, 4th high sheep, 4th high in oral reasons, and High Individual Overall. Tyler Green finished as high individual in swine and 7th High Individual Overall. Emily Upchurch finished 5th high in sheep, 5th high in oral reasons, and 13th High Individual Overall. The three team members of Taylor Graham, Tyler Green and Emily Upchurch were accompanied by coaches Gregg Upchurch and Keith Cole. Their 4-H Extension Agent is Robbie Casteel. This trip was awarded to the members by their placing in the Tennessee State 4-H Livestock Judging contest. These team members were also first in the Eastern Region contest. The 4-H Livestock Judging team would like to express a huge thank you to the many sponsors of their national judging trip. These sponsors include Volunteer Electric Cooperative, Middle Tennessee Natural Gas Utility District, Cumberland County Farm Bureau, Mountain Farm International, First National Bank, Oak Hill FCE and many private donors.

Sullivan County Bread Baking - What a Blast!

Sullivan County held their contest March 3, 2008. Along with the contest, a skil-a-thon was held. Below are just a few photos to highlight the event.

Washington County Extension partnered with the Ball Company to teach hands-on canning with their 4-H'ers. This project not only promoted 4-H, but service and food preservation as well. They had great results!
